Happy Birthday again Ting and Darl (if you happen to read this!) :)

Ting's birthday celebration was a little unlike the rest I've been to, mainly because of the performances. Haha!
Personally I thought we were cui. Good thing 2 out of the 3 songs were cut short, albeit abruptly.
Ting's medley with her friend was good, though a little too lengthy.

Really glad the calendar's completed- it was like reliving pri-sch days doing projects with HDB models made from milk cartons/ ice cream sticks and trees from green sponge. almost conked out from the last 4 hours we spent on the photos and caption-ing. Darl has the photos :) I want them so thanks in advance! Scrapbooking and card making are for people with lots of spare time and patience. It'll be difficult to get down to doing handiwork when school resumes.

There was a very cute toddler sitting at the table beside ours with this parents at VivoKopitiam where we tied up loose ends for the calendar. I do believe I saw him wink, and subsequently, he would stare and turn away shyly. Happened quite a few times and I was greatly amused. When Darl decided to let him choose which sticker he'd like from the ones we had (because he didn't want the maple leaf cutout we gave him), he took the whole page away. Haha! Got us a little worried because we very nearly had no flower stickers for the calendar. He was very adorable but kept distracting Darl by tapping on her chair.

Aiya, still very confused with the workings of iMac. Or rather, IT as a whole. :/

Met up with WL, nine years after leaving PPS. Dinner was a refreshing experience, to say the least.

Although it is heartening to know that she's got her sight and heart set on what she wants, that determination is just that teenie bit intimidating.

Done with AhJin's chalet!

Because we refused to be aunties who cart back their buys in NTUC trolleys, we lugged everything to the room. HUGE MISTAKE, and now my poor arms and shoulders are bearing the brunt of it all. Linn's YokoYoko was of no use.

Linn and I breezed through HY's version of Don'tForgetTheLyrics, except for a few songs. When we ran out of songs, we came up with another version, and it soon became a K-session instead.

Night cycling was quite an experience. I don't remember CV being that far, but I guess 4 wheels are always faster than 2. I went there hungry, and came back hungry :( I did get a few more mosquito bites though. And, someone crashed his bike (HAHA! =x) and the brake snapped.

We only managed 2 hours of sleep and I'm still wondering why we set such an early alarm.

Plans for ball games were cancelled because we were all so tired out! So we went about preparing for BBQ. Don't know how the food tasted because I had buffet at YorkHotel that same night for Darl's 21st. Haha! It did make me more hesitant about celebrating my own because Darl looked quite stressed up that night, but we shall see...

I got to re-learn DaiDee and other games that required some thinking and observation.

AhJin then set the alarm but forgot to switch it on. Good thing Mum called and that became our alarm instead.

Rong turns 17 today!

Went out for his bday celebration at Hard Rock yesterday where the staff made him a bday sundae. He had to blow out his candle in the most UNGLAM manner in front of EVERYONE at the restaurant. It was extremely entertaining and funny to watch. Hahahah! And the staff called him "lian rong"(lotus paste). The food portions were humongous but the ice cream there was one of the best I've had in a very very long time.

Her favs, according to D, aren't exactly what I find fitting to sing at a 21st because it's a bit emo. Haha! Mind-boggling, but we'll figure out something somehow.

Winnie's flying off to Perth today. Glad we got to meet up over lunch and K the other day. When I talked to her last night, she was still packing and fretting over what to lug along with her. Haha!

My cousin's been getting lots of those capsules from 7-11 with the little miss and misters handphone accessories. It's cute. :) I have like 2 as well. and Yay! She's giving MrSmall to me haha because I let out MrGreedy the other day! Woots! Mum hates it, "I don't find it nice. I prefer the (care)bears they're selling in 7-11."

Friends and cousins are all suddenly signing up for driving lessons. Haha! Hope it all goes well. :) Then I won't be the one driving, muahaha! FINALLY, I understand why it's better to be the driven one than the driving one. =x (BUT! just SOMETIMES)

Picnic Day

First time driving friends! Would have been a better picnic if not for ant-invasion.

Cycled around a bit and headed to Parkway for lunch and to Vivo for dinner with Bin.

Very tiring (even more so because of the driving), but fun nonetheless.

2 nights at a chalet's no joke. Tired out even though we had a few hours' of sleep. Learnt mahjong.bridge.daidee all over again. I'll still be a noob at those if there's another chalet.

First time helping with preparations. FUN :) E2 girls are great. Really good to see them again.

and YES, I realised I'm a difficult to sleep with because I slapped the bday girl once unknowingly. :x felt bad until the 2nd night because Linn slapped her then! Hahaha.

Food was in abundance. Cake was great. Love the door gift. =)

2 consecutive breakfasts of egg mcmuffin from Mac's. :) I'm loving it!

Detests bathing at the toilet, because it always looks so dirty =x so we always go to the one beside the swimming pool meant for swimmers. Haha!

But that one night, I saw something worse.

That something which we coin "a non-living thing but came out from a living being".

Shit.

The first word that came out.

like,

"Shit, I see shit on the floor."

Eeks. A first. I mean, it's common to see dog poo on grass. Certainly uncommon to see shit on floor in the shower cubicle.

Shit should be in the toilet bowl. =.= unless it's a kid.

Watched LandofTheLost at 1 plus in the morning. A waste of $10 because it was a far cry from what we expected, and I felt it was a pretty dumb show. Like an extended version of a 10 minute stimulation ride at amusement parks. ALOT WORSE because it is extended.

Ok, this coupled with the fact that I'd been sleep-deprived, cold!, and constantly irritated by this guy behind who was kicking my seat every few seconds. I had the urge to turn around and scream at him to STOP KICKING because I didn't need the "stimulation". But he looked like some ahbeng I didn't want to incur his wrath. UGH.

and I dozed off 20 minutes to the end of the show.

It was a bad movie experience.

Still, I wished Eri-A had a memorable 21st :)

Life's been pretty sweet. and lucky me's got new purchases this GSS.

Went down to Kuishinbo at JP for dinner last night. Most satisfying. Snow crabs! and of course, salmon sashimi!!!

I know the sisters had fun with the fondue. haha!

It was a very expensive dinner, and I think I've had enough of the snow crabs, so I reckon I won't be going back there in a long while.

There was a cute salesman at net. Mum and JH saw him too and mum nudged me and said, "You go ask him where is the section for guys' belts. Give you chance..."
"What chance..." =.=
I refused to budge. So Mum had to go ask him herself. =p
On our way home, JH and I were gushing about him again. Haha! But duayi reckons he's younger, so then that's a nono.

Just a while ago, I told duayi that I'll be out tomorrow night for dinner and movie.
"With who?"
"Friend....boyfriend!"
"Huh! Boyfriend ah!" and she broke into this wide smile and was about to close in for a hug with her arms wide open, like what she always do when she wants me to tell her more.
Before I burst the bubble, "Noooo lah, with a GIRL friend."
"Oh. Chey!" and she flagged her arms into my face.

I had ambitions, dreams.

How many left?

It scares me when people ask, "What do you want to be in the future?" and I do not have an answer to that question.

I'm VERY dependent on my family and friends around me. And still very indecisive. I still make decisions on whim at times, and I'm trying to do better on reliance.

It's hard, as if I'm starting from scratch.
I am alarmed at how inadequate I am on some matters that should be nothing new to someone my age.

Need to know I have what it takes to survive. That for the past 20 yrs, I have acquired, and given.

I did a youtube marathon - completed one full season of Hell's Kitchen within 1.5 days.

Yikes!

I've been eating ice cream at almost every meetup. and loads of cheese - cheese with rice, cheese with pasta... Always a baked-something-dish at cartel, swensens, and most recently, empire state.

Been sleeping late late late.

My friend tells me I'm not a parasite because according to some definition from Wiki, I'm not. Oh, and because I do vacuum at home, I'm not.
Hmm, some consolation there I guess. Haha!

Some people do have a knack for making people feel good. And SJ's really generous with compliments all the time, most of which I feel are undeserving.

Limelight 2009 made me feel like going back to alumni band.

Followed Mum to the temple yesterday. But she'd gone without the coffee, oranges, and joss sticks. =.=

Then to CP (for the 3rd day consecutively) because my aunt's new jeans were altered 2 inches TOO SHORT. Another trip need to be made for collection.

And she gave me a lift to HgM where I met up with Steph and Pearlin over Cartel. It does feel weird to hear of friends getting engaged. Like Steph said, "I don't even have a bf, and she's getting engaged!"

I like meetups :) Even though sometimes they burn a hole in my pocket!

Wish me luck for the interview later, so that I can arrange for more meetups! =D

Friday
Sentosa with Linn and Bin! Bought toys for building sandcastles. HAHAHA. Busied ourselves digging, camwhoring and getting sunkissed :) Bin was upset we didn't have a ball to play with, but we'll make up for that some other time.

Our itinerary was SIMPLE. Siloso beach - free bird show - Palawan Beach

Though we didn't have a ball, we got ourselves a frisbee.

No LugeRide, no UnderwaterWorld, no 3D rides, but still had truckloads of fun!

Checked out at 10a.m. and got caught in the rain.

Head ACHED horribly when I got home. Managed about 2 hours of sleep before heading to RafflesCity to meet the WIL girls! I must have been crazy to arrange for a meetup right after a chalet.

I think Jillian looks really good with SHORT hair. It was great seeing them again. :) caught up over dinner and starbucks.

And today, I went out again! For a movie with LinnYJHYWil. Star Trek was pretty good, actually better than Wolverine I think.

Mummy's 45!

No cake. No plans.

The whole afternoon, I was just showing mummy facebook pictures. Yes and I got her to try out the HellKitchensGame, to much amusement. And after about one hour plus or so, I got her and my auntie to show me some stuff they learnt at what I term "auntieyogasessions". I think I have old bones, really. Not that mum's any much better! Haha.

So I was searching for movies because I refused to go K with her. =/ Haha! Unfortunately there was none. Good thing there were lots of packing and cleaning to be done because we had new air-conditioners coming in so that took up abit of time.

Finally we settled on SushiTei at SgnGdns. Very fulfilling. :) I hope I never get tired of salmon sashimi! And let's not get started on how yummylicious the chawanmushi was...MINUS the ginko nut.

Back in the car, my brother suggested going for a game of pool. And in a matter of minutes, we were at HgPlaza. It felt a little weird at first (for me), seeing how all around us were people my age and younger. But I knew my parents were past caring, even though some people looked over at our table occassionally. I have very spontaneous YOUNG parents you know! :))
Dad said he couldn't play, and he beat my brother time and again. :/ Even though my brother held his own VERY WELL. It was very amusing watching my Dad grin and jump with a very audible "YES!" when he got the ball into the pocket, and sometimes with a soft hiss when he failed.
I had a game against Mum and won by a stroke of luck when she got the white ball in at the last minute. ;p

I think my Mum had fun! Happy 45th! =)

Just saw him all frail in bed this afternoon. Finally, I see and fully comprehend what "a bag of bones" means. The ribcage was where there used to be a stomach.sunken cheeks.just SKIN and BONES. There were several times he took such deep breaths I was afraid it'd be his last.

An all too familiar sight. Just a bit more haunting because he did looked worse than my grandfather.

Jocelyn's wedding today :)

Left the house early in the morning at 0745 and drove to Jurong with Dad giving directions. VERY LONG drive.

Back to Hg after 5 hours, with Dad at the wheel.

Headed to Courts with Aunt and Mum because our air-conditioners are beyond repair :(
Drove back to Hg again from Simei with my Aunt beside me in the FIT and Mum in my uncle's car (borrowed).

Then, picked up JH and family from Woodlands at 1900 before heading BACK to Jurong again for the wedding dinner.

You know, the fun one gets from driving diminishes with every trip you take in a single day. Haha!

Restaurant's like really far, near the jurongcamp. And we circled around for a loooonnnng while, reaching the restaurant only at 2035. By the time I got off the car, I was in a daze. Food wasn't as good as expected, or maybe because we just lost our appetite covering almost the whole of Jurong.

When the dinner finally ended, it was already, 2230.

On the way home, well, I'll let the pictures do the talking. Haha!

FINALLY!

Oh, then Dad insisted we returned the car TONIGHT. So we sent JH and family back to Woodlands, then Grandma and Aunt and brothers back to Hg, then BACK to Simei with my parents and I chauffered my parents home to Hg again.

I hope no one else I know hold his/her wedding dinner there.

Got super irritated with this group of 3 girls on the train who were giggling a little too loudly. I hate it when people play their music for all in trains and buses. One of their voices was so jarring to the ears it hurt because it sounded like she spoke through a loudspeaker.

Tired out. But since tomb-sweeping's an annual affair, don't think we should complain too much.

First tomb-sweeping without grandpa, and we can't find our way around. Ended up going around in circles, finally coming to a dead end, before making our way back to square one where we initially thought was not correct.

Where we used to pray WITH him, we're now praying TO him. Sure feels weird.

I always wonder what kind of lives they led, and whether as descendents, we would have made decisions or do things the way they did.

Of oranges, aunties and goals (perhaps the lack of it)

Ran errands for grandma on my way home.
10 oranges, and 2 packets of vegetarian charsiew buns.

There was only 1 packet of buns, and the oranges didn't look very 'nice'. So I only grabbed 6 of those I think made the cut.
But when queuing at the cashier's, I saw many many aunties with very nice oranges! The whole time I wondered where they got it, but went ahead with making payment.
On my way out, I walked past the crate from where I picked my oranges, and I saw that there were more! So I proceeded to pick 4 more, and while I fret over the many dents I saw of those that remained, one of the workers told me there were more at the other end. =.=

I must have been blind! I DID walk to that same spot earlier on but didn't see any oranges! NOW I see them...
I felt stupid but nonetheless comforted that at least 4 of the oranges would be 'flawless'- sans the dents and all the what-nots. (because there were really lots more to choose from!)
But to my dismay, I couldn't find any. :(
I think the aunties took all the good ones =x

Anyway, for the past 2 hours or so, I've been scouring through websites after websites for job applications for my resume-writing assignment. It's tough.
I realised then, I have no clear goals. Talk about self-knowledge and identity...

It rained so heavily today the umbrella was of no use at all.

The lecture theatre was empty, save for a handful others and the lecturer. No Ad, no sms.
No wonder people lunch alone, dine alone, study alone. And I look ahead at the big group seated in front.

I did a quick comparison and realised, it was really quiet over at my end as opposed to theirs. Someone else sat at the same row where I was and she was alone too. Perhaps it did make both of us feel less alone this way...?

But hey! I instantly felt better on my way out of school, because I met HY at the busstop. Haha!

The concert was a blast, especially the second half! The crowd cheered, and I reallyreallyreally loved being on the stage that night :))

It was an entirely new experience to dance and sing on the same stage where I played.

Quizzes so far were not very manageable.
The school made the headlines.
The tutor seemed to be directing it all at my group today - so no, we aren't very pleased. Groupmate suggested colluding to shade the "Very Much Disagree" options on the OMR sheet should there be a tutor evaluation.
I'm getting on average, 3 hours plus of sleep every night. (totally not fun)

Desperate for TIME. because I haven't studied for my quizZES.

Audition was on today, and PHEW! made it, but that's because he needed to check that we really knew the lyrics and not so much the head-voice and all that what-nots.

The choreographer singled me out with some others, and she said, "you need to dance with more life! more energy!"

Disgruntled la! Won't deny though that I didn't put my best foot forward at rehearsal today. But I know come 7Mar, I CAN MAKE IT. I will put 120% on the actual day like I usually do, from past experiences, haha! Not exactly the cliched "leaving the best for the last", just...[you know what I mean. Watching NTUPE's concert at the esplanade recital studio last Sunday left me in awe, and undeserving of my G7 certificate. Haha!

I've added another pair of black heels to my collection- shorter heels which hopefully would make me LESS LIKELY to fall flat on my face on stage next Saturday.

Am bent on getting my accessories today, so that I won't have to go scour for it anymore.

Dinner with CM the night before was a good catch-up session (Finally! someone who remembered to meet up...) and my first meal at Fig&Olive was a treat, because he insisted :) Great food, though the portion was huge! Couldn't fathom why there there were so little diners though- people probably prefer sticking to thaiex/swen and the usual. Good thing I got him to decide, else I would have ended up eating baked rice or hawaiian pizza again. Haha!

I feel like running away from it all.

AND, a song to be memorised for tomorrow's performance at TPY. (half done)
Mallet and snare assessment next week, or the week after. Would be able to practise the snare on my drum pad at home, but the other....how?

I know why despite being so overwhelmed, I continue to take part in activities as such.
I like that feeling of belonging, of performing with a huge group of people, to know that we are all working towards that same goal.

My clothes cupboard is in a mess already! And now I have to dig for all the dark colours to wear so it's worse. Haha!
Can't watch movies, can't buy clothes. Don't usually shop, but you know, sometimes you go window shop alone to destress and there's the impulse to buy something nice...

I think I've learnt to love the family more. Not that I didn't before, just MORE.

I think I spent some quality time with my brother yesterday, even if it was just helping him set up his facebook account and sitting beside him while I watched him play. Haha!

He complained of boredom, so I dug out photos.

I even had to accompany him downstairs for lunch. His eyes nearly popped out when he realised the bowl of yupianmifen he ordered cost $4. Oh, his ice coffee was CMI too.

When my dad asked me to go drive mum home from work, I asked him to come with me because "you asked me to go for lunch with you while I WATCHED as you EAT." Haha! Stupid Rong says he's lazy and when I asked him to sleep in the car, he said he did not dare to because I was the one driving.

But anyway, he did go with me in the end, and I refused to on the air-con and wound down the windows instead. Lol! Think we were quite noisy cuz he blasted music in the car. He has a very bad habit of switching between stations every few minutes. Tsk!

This whole thing just feels so surreal.

One day it was seeing him still on his bed, breathing a little harder than usual.
Next was the sms that he's gone.
Then it was the wake. Folding/ burning joss papers day in and day out. Ritual after ritual.
Cremation. Collection of ashes, bringing them out to sea.
A coin and a lighter from his collection.

That scene at the crematorium keeps flashing in my mind.

Tired.

I know he came back, because we saw that handprint on the rice.

It was a good thing we went to visit Grandpa after shopping that day, cuz that was the last I saw of him.

We knew it was only a matter of hours - it was just too hard seeing him like that. The tears flowed more freely with each passing hour, and I was praying really hard he would hold out till my brother got back. Because I knew he wouldn't pass on peacefully before he got to see him; and I knew that my brother would have regrets thereafter.

Very much to my relief, he got back in time. Grandpa seemed to be much more at ease, and we headed back home cuz my uncle thinks he'd most likely be holding out till he sees my other uncle, who happened to be overseas.

Unfortunately, he didn't and about 1 hour into the next morning, he was gone.

I only learnt of it the next morning from my brother, went about with school before going to the wake.

Couldn't stop crying having breakfast and even in the bus on my way to school. Yet, I was surprisingly stoic at the wake. Not totally indifferent cuz it sucks big time to see a face so familiar behind that little window. I try not to stare too hard because I very much prefer how he looked like when he was better.

The photo's really well taken. In fact, it was taken last CNY, when he and grandma took part in this yuanxiao event where they renewed their marriage vows.

They had his mouth stitched up cuz I think it was wide agape when he breathed his last.

I wasn't there when they wanted to nail the coffin. And HE knew I was not there, cuz apparently they couldn't get any 'puay' when they prayed. Haiz. My father had some explaining to do, and they got the 'puay' they wanted and nailed. It was how my grandpa would have liked it - he always wanted everyone to be there, at every gathering, celebration....

2 more days, and it'll really be goodbye.

I just hope everyone pulls through it.

That, even if we won't ever see him again, he'll be remembered as the grandpa that loves his Carlsberg, offers to buy chicken wings whenever we visit, laughed when we asked if he still wanted his Carlsberg when he got sick, and insisted it was milo he puked when it really was blood.

Audition for further perc elective was on today. Walking down NIE's corridors brought back fond memories of NYPF!

Heart in mouth when he called me into the room. Trembled a little as he proceeded to ask, "Any experience in playing? With which band? Who was the conductor? Do you play piano?"

Started with the marimba. Took the mallets and almost started off on the wrong octave, and proceeded to play about 16 bars before he asked me to stop...There were bars and bars of semiquavers I got kinda freaked out. Continued with the snare which had lots of drags and somehow I screwed that up real badly. Rhythm was way off because the drags threw me off track and I couldn't even play the crotchets and quavers properly. zomg. I PRAY I get this elective.

Laying hands on the mallets felt like saying hi to a long lost friend. :)

Anyway, Dad asked if I'd like to go pick mum up, like he always do. Except, this time round, he asked me to go alone. I stared at him, and he said, "Or later ask your brother to go with you la."
Not a chance, since my brother wasn't even home.

Usually, we'd leave the house at 1015, and then I'd slowly drive there, under his supervision and nagging. Haha. Today, I waited till 1030 only to realise he'd fallen asleep infront of the television. So I screamed for him to wake up, and just when I thought he'd relented and decided to come along with me again, he passed me the car key and said, "You know where the exit is, where to turn right? Don't miss it ah."

So I wound down the windows and switched to my favourite radio station and went off, ALONE.
Oh, and it only took me 15 min to reach Mum's workplace. =x
My parking skills always go haywire at night.

Tired but happy.
Had a long day at rehearsal for Chingay.
It was like a scene right out from some "pageant's behind-the-scenes".There were make-up artistes and hairstylists when we got to the room. We had to take turns going to each one for foundation/eye-shadow/face-art etc... It'd been quite a sight!

Everyone started whipping out their cameras and snapped away.
Some whined about the head-gear; others about their costumes...
But in my opinion, nothing beats having that THING on your head for over 6 hours.

Make-up and hair were done before the contingent adjourned to PA from school in 2 buses. We had to stoop down a little so that we wouldn't subject ourselves to more torture brushing the head-gears against the buses' tops.
At PA, we were greeted with an array of colours and huge crowds of performers. In comparison, ours looked the most cheena and wayang-ish. Haha! But again, it is not everyday you get to slap on hues as dark as ours.

Once for an experience would be quite sufficient. At times, it gets so grueling having to do mini-sprints continuously I really feel like giving up/ trip and fall and excuse myself from there. Even the turnings and spinnings make me a little disoriented.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to both parades on the 30th and 31st! :)

Grandma's really enjoying talking to her little great-grandson over the phone. As I'm typing this, she's going "hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello. hello.", "boyboy. boyboy. boyboy. boyboy. boyboy. boyboy. boyboy." with a one-second pause between each "hello" and "boyboy". I gave up counting exactly how many times my cute grandma's repeated that! Haha.

It's a small country we're living in. Last night when we sent home in cabs in groups of 4, I happened to be in the one with 2 others who were from the same primary school! One's my age (who happens to be Celia's friend) and the other's a school junior. Haha! Oh, then there's one other in the cab too, with whom I share the same name, and she lives only 2 bus stops away from me! Somehow, we were all quite excited, despite the number of pins that were still sticking into our heads, and yakked for the whole journey. Maybe that's why the taxi driver got a irritated and sped because the monitor read "Warning: Please drive carefully!". It was alarming to see that. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I couldn't see the speedometer from where I was seated.

I'm really fascinated with photography. I wonder if an SLR camera makes it all different. Perhaps with my non-existent photography skills (seeing how my 'speciality' lies in taking shots with covered faces/ getting into flash-fights with Stephie), even the SLR camera won't help.
But pictures, like those seen in http://www.flickr.com/photos/chewmyheadoff make me go "wow" and I do hope that someday I will be able to take snapshots like that too!

If I can just pull those socks up. Except, I hardly see them.

A week since start of the year, and already I'm feeling sluggish.

7 pounds was not entirely how I anticipated it to be. It was off to a slow start, leaving me completely clueless. Revelation and oh! enlightenment at the end. Found the beating heart and the jellyfish sting suicide method a wee bit gruesome but still bearable. Thought-provoking.

Got my new specs, but I think she didn't do a good job cleaning off the marks and I can't clean those off with only water. Probably need to get it back there. =/

I am so not for lecturers putting up notes AFTER lectures.

I'd think it was quite worth my 10 bucks, cuz I found it pretty hilarious.
And I had my first Pepper Lunch meal today :)

Pray that I pass auditions on Monday for that elective. Then I won't have to worry about sourcing for another.

my legs were getting better till Wednesday.

Chingay rehearsals are a torture at times. the aches afterwards make me feel like an old lady =x
Having rehearsal 2 days consecutively in a week doesn't help. =/

today's caroling was =.=
warm ups were held in a stuffy area, deprived of air. made worse with smokers around.

even though it was 8 at night at Bugis, it was extremely humid.
